Behind on Work? You Need a Catch-Up Day!
When you work at home, and work for yourself, it’s easy to get behind on things. My solution was to schedule one day every week for “catch-up day”. I picked mid-week, on Wednesday, and just made it a regular habit.
Every week I would use that day to sit down and catch up on any little tasks that were piling up on me, and get them all cleared up.
When my daughter was 5, she overheard me call it “catch-up day” and her little blue eyes lit up with joy!
She said “It’s Ketchup Day?!”
From then on, every Wednesday, she would celebrate my home office catch-up day by eating Ketchup with everything. And I mean everything. She looked forward to it every single week as if it were a recognized holiday -LOL.
Working at home with your kids is fun… and funny, too!
Sure, sometimes it’s hard to juggle parenting and profiting all under the same roof… but it’s those little moments with your children that make it all worth it. The moments you would miss if you were gone to a job outside the home.
Now that my children are teenagers, I barely remember the times I felt like pulling my hair out (I know I had them!). What I remember most is things like… Ketchup Day.

LOL I love it! Ketchup Day…hehe
For me, ketchup day would consist of household tasks, not work tasks; and more often than not would include ketchup stain removal.
I soooo need a “ketchup day” right now!!! Actually that’s what I’m doing today…catching up from a few of the things life has thrown my way lately…
I do like the idea of setting aside one day a week to play catch up. I think I will schedule one myself. Thursdays will work great, because I already have prior commitments on Wednesdays.
Thanks Lynn!
When I saw “ketchup day” I flashed back to the event where I met Lynn Terry.
We were at Willie Crawford’s birthday bash, and I was having breakfast with Nicheprof (Ron Capps) before the sessions began.
I asked for ketchup from the server, and started shaking it. Although the top was on the ketchup, it was not fastened (evidently for my “convenience”), and so I quickly had half a bottle of ketchup all over my shirt, pants, table, floor, etc.
The worst part was when the server came back and flatly asked, “Would you like a napkin?”
No apology, no cause for concern…
It was a pretty funny incident, and I do wish a Flip was present to capture the scene. But nevertheless, I make sure to extra-tighten the ketchup bottle!

LOL Bob – would have been awesome to catch THAT on video!
