A Visit From The 3 Ghosts of Online Business, Part 1
One of my favorite parts of the Christmas season got me thinking lately…
…no, it wasn’t fruitcake this time…
I absolutely love “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens and I read it again each Christmas season. Maybe it’s the whole Tiny Tim thing, maybe it’s because my youngest is so tighfisted he makes Scrooge look like Mother Teresa, maybe it’s the chuckle I always get when I read “Christmas goose”, who knows?
This year, I thought of it in a completely different way, or at least a more personal way. My kid’s still cheap and I still haven’t ever tasted a figgy pudding, but the thought occured to me: What if the three Spirits of Online Business – Past, Present and Future – were to appear to you and me? What would they say? What would we say to them?
Would it be “Congratulations! Have a hot toddy!!” or “Dude, it’s all in the potty”??
Present and Future will show up tomorrow and Friday, so don’t sweat being interrupted late tonight. Spiffy nightgown and cap optional.

My ghost of Business Past would say, “Why in the heck did you shut me down!? Look how far we’d've been today if you hadn’t of quit!!” *sigh* He doesn’t look happy – at all.
Answer his question and tell him what’s changed, what you’ll do differently, what you LEARNED from the experience.
And you can really only imagine how far you might have gone.
How can you have a better visit with his brother (or sister or undecided) next year? Some fresh baked scones perhaps??

What a great idea for a little blog series!
Ghost of Past – Angela, you flittered, you fluttered, you got frustrated and flustered and you never really learned who you were and what you wanted. That’s why your businesses didn’t work and money didn’t flow.
Ghost of Present – Angela, you’re on the right track but you must keep going and keep growing. Personal Development is your goal in the present.
Ghost of Future – Angela, you made it click! You set a goal and stuck to it, you found out what you really wanted out of life and went for it and you are such an inspiration to others who want to live their dreams and look to you for advice.
Good use of family-friendly “F” words.
And you got them there all at once. That must’ve been some coffeecake you served!
Glad you got good stuff out of it!!

Hi Dan! I guess my ghost of online past would say, “What didn’t you start this earlier? You know how you like it, but now you feel so rushed!”
What I wouldn’t give to have started this journey ten years ago! I love to learn new things and I would be so much farther ahead if I had started back then!
My ghost of online present would say, “Keep a positive mental attitude!” It is so easy to become discouraged when things don’t go as planned. We want every post to rank #1. We want each marketing campaign to make us a million dollars!
Just to keep working doggedly along, knowing that it will work out is a tough pill to swallow sometimes!
The Ghost of online future will say” WOOHOO! You made it! See, I told you to hang in there and now you’re a freakin’ success!”
Sorry, my ghost gets a little excited!
Contemplating the future can do that to a ghost, I’ve heard.
I’ve also heard the keeping on keeping on is the biggest part of it!
I’ll keep a WOOHOO on hand for you…
The Ghost of Online Business Past would probably say : “Did you delete that awful GoDaddy website yet? I was cringing when you made it. That colour scheme – yikes!”
I can’t wait to see what the Ghost of Online Business Present has to say…..Eeek.
I ‘m a bit nervous.
I’m in the very early stages of setting up business.
My past would say ‘Just hang in there, the right time will present itself’.
Present : See I told you. Now you can fulfill your dream of being a WAHM, but don’t let the overwhelming information & confusion stop you from realising your goals. Remember to laugh at your foibles and learn from them. Now get to work writing blog posts of your own.
Future : Waaay to go girl, stay focussed and enjoy the fruits of your labour. Don’t forget to help others along the way.
